This episode of Temptation Range...

Went to the range again yesterday. Had to wait a little while before I could go shoot because my step brother decided to join us (my friend Ry and I.) During that period of time between arriving, and waiting for my brother to drop down Ry and I started wandering around the vast gun selection looking at all the new toys that just cried out to us. Ry was so enthralled he later decided he needed to join company with the 9mm owners club of America, and purchased the most fantastic 9mm I’ve laid my hands on. It is bulky like a larger 45-caliber model, but fits firm against the hand like a good gun should. I however, am still getting used to sighting my MP9. The gun fits pretty well against my hand, recoil is manageable, but the targeting needs some work. I can aim straight down the sights, keeping the sights perfectly parallel to one another, pull the trigger slowly, and during the recoil the bullet has somehow managed to go off to the left of where I’ve aimed.

I think this last time out I’ve finally gotten the hang of it. I’ve managed to keep my eyes trained on the sights, and on the target all at once without closing my left eye. When I’m steadily aiming I can pick where the bullet is going and usually am dead on. However, when I get excited I just take a quick aim, and pop off a shot. I tried challenging Ry to a best head shot competition where we’d each take five shots on a fresh target to see whom could nail a guy in the head the most at over 100 feet. My first shot was dead center of the face. My other four shots however grazed his skull, got an ear, and managed to kill whoever was standing a foot to the left of his head.

So needless to say I need to work on my hand control when I’m not fully concentrating. I was a little excited by bulls eyeing the blue man at 100 feet, but after that crap hit the fan on accuracy. So Ry ended up taking the victory on that round with his fancy new 9mm that makes my hand jealous. I suppose I just need to go practice more, yes, practice more, and that’s definitely not an excuse to go see my mistress miss AK-74.

I’m thinking this next tax break I’m either getting a new 47" HD TV to replace my 22" 13 year old junker, or I’m going to go pick up myself an AK-74, for home defense. I could take her out to my other step brothers farm to home defense some cans at 100 feet. Something about a gun that puts out a round that’s about the same size as my pinkie just has temptation written all over it.

As a side note my fingers are all sensitive this morning while I’m typing from trying to jam 9mm rounds into my clips. Not to mention trying to jam 22 rounds into the clip for my buddies 22 rifle. That thing likes to take a piece of your finger each time while you’re pounding on the bullet with your thumb hoping it’ll make way for the next round. Anyway, I think fun was had by all, and Ry will remain range champion until next time (hopefully next weekend) and we’ll see whether AK comes home with me next round of temptation range.
