I'm 25.

1. June 2008

On June 1 I turned 25. It’s a little surreal to think that I’ve been hanging around this world for 25 years now. I remember aging up from 16, 18, 21, and now the big 25. I celebrated the dips and peaks time to time with crazy antics just passing the years thinking about how great it would be to reach the next peak. How wonderful it would be to be 16 and driving, 18 to buy lottery tickets or smoke, 21 to drink and vote. 25 really doesn’t bring much to the table other than having to get a new drivers license, decreased insurance costs, and that seems to be it so far.

I celebrated quietly this year. I went to the gun range, splurged a little by renting the Ruger .454 with the eight inch barrel. I never felt so much like dirty Harry as I did at that moment, cocking the hammer back with my thumb, and one handing the shots. The fifty rounds at five shots a chamber went quick, even had a few come back off the backstop a couple times, but it was pretty awe-inspiring. I had dinner with Chuck and Steph, and setup a new computer for Chuck’s new office worker.

I sit here at 25 trying to figure out what milestones are next. I think in the next five years I’d like to be a millionaire, buy a dodge viper srt-10 (somehow?), maybe get married, and lay in a hammock doing work. I’m anxious to start the next 25 years off right. I often sit at a friend’s house watching his son running around playing the Xbox 360 wondering whether when I was his age whether my parents acted like us. I can’t help but wonder what future holds for the little guy as when I was older than he was I thought the regular Nintendo was the neatest thing on Earth. I never had a computer, the amount of video games, and global interaction these kids have now.
